Assessments

How the Academy confirms a member has achieved what a level, workshop or qualification requires.

Academy assessments

Assessments are used within the WFA Academy to help determine whether a member has achieved the knowledge or skills required for a particular level, workshop or qualification.

Not every workshop will require an assessment. Where one is required, the relevant workshop or pathway information will explain what the member needs to complete.

Type 01

Practical assessments

Practical assessments allow members to demonstrate their ability in a real or simulated environment.

For cricket pathways, this could involve demonstrating batting, bowling, fielding, wicketkeeping or tactical skills.

For officials, it could involve practical umpiring or match-management situations.

Type 02

Knowledge assessments

Some Academy programmes may include written or online assessments.

These can test a member's understanding of subjects such as cricket laws, welfare, leadership, safeguarding or other Academy content.

Type 03

Coach assessment

A coach or authorised instructor may observe a member and provide an assessment based on the requirements of the relevant programme.

The assessment should be based on clearly communicated criteria so that members understand what is expected.

Afterwards

Results

Once an assessment has been completed, the result can be recorded within the member's Academy account.

Where a member successfully meets the requirements, the relevant workshop, level or qualification can be marked as completed.

Where further development is required, the member should be given appropriate guidance on what they can work on before attempting the assessment again.

Moving up

Progression

Successful assessments can contribute towards progression through the Academy levels.

The requirements for each pathway will be clearly explained so members know whether an assessment is required before moving forward.
