WFA Official Fine List 2026–27: New Standards, Clearer Expectations and a Stronger Commitment to Behaviour

The Winn Family Association (WFA) officially publishes its Fine List for the 2026–27 Season

The Winn Family Association (WFA) is pleased to announce the publication of the WFA Official Fine List 2026–27, an important document introduced to strengthen standards of behaviour, accountability, respect and responsibility across the Winn Family T-20 League.

The publication represents another step forward in the Association’s commitment to maintaining a well-organised, respectful and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in the league. As the governing body responsible for rules, regulations, safeguarding and governance, the WFA recognises that maintaining high standards goes beyond what happens on the cricket field. The way individuals communicate, behave, treat others and represent the organisation is equally important.

The new Fine List establishes a clearer framework for dealing with behavioural concerns, breaches of expectations and other matters that may require formal action.

Why has the WFA introduced an Official Fine List?

Every successful sporting organisation needs clear expectations. Players, officials, representatives and other participants should understand what is expected of them and what may happen if those expectations are not met.

The WFA has therefore introduced the Official Fine List to provide a consistent reference point when dealing with conduct-related matters throughout the 2026–27 season.

Previously, dealing with individual behavioural matters could require decisions to be considered on a case-by-case basis without one central document setting out the relevant expectations and potential consequences.

The introduction of this document aims to make the process more organised, transparent and consistent.

It also ensures that individuals are aware that their actions can have consequences and that everyone has a responsibility to contribute positively to the league.

The message from the Association is simple: everyone deserves respect, everyone is accountable for their actions, and the standards apply to everyone.

What does the Fine List cover?

The WFA Official Fine List 2026–27 places particular emphasis on behaviour, warnings, conduct and responsibility.

Rather than concentrating solely on cricket-related matters, the document focuses on the wider standards expected from individuals participating in and representing the organisation.

Its areas of coverage include:

  • Behaviour and conduct: Expectations surrounding appropriate behaviour, respect and the treatment of other individuals.
  • Respect towards officials: Maintaining appropriate standards when communicating with league officials, representatives and those responsible for organising activities.
  • Communication: Expectations concerning messages, emails, official correspondence and communication through league platforms.
  • Disrespectful behaviour: Addressing inappropriate language, unacceptable comments and behaviour that falls below the standards expected by the Association.
  • Failure to follow instructions: The importance of following reasonable instructions and decisions issued by authorised league representatives.
  • Organisational responsibilities: Expectations surrounding the use of league facilities, equipment, resources and official systems.
  • Warnings and disciplinary matters: How concerns may be recorded, reviewed and dealt with through the appropriate procedures.

The Fine List provides a reference for potential consequences, helping ensure that similar matters can be considered consistently.

Any action taken will need to reflect the circumstances, seriousness and available evidence relating to the incident.

A stronger approach to warnings and accountability

An important part of the new system is the relationship between warnings and potential fines.

The WFA believes that individuals should have a clear understanding of concerns raised about their behaviour and, where appropriate, an opportunity to correct their actions.

Depending on the circumstances, a matter may be dealt with through an informal reminder, an official warning or a formal disciplinary decision.

More serious incidents may require immediate investigation and action without an earlier warning.

The Association also intends to maintain appropriate records of formal warnings and disciplinary decisions, ensuring that matters can be reviewed if necessary.

This approach is designed to encourage improvement rather than simply issue penalties.

A fine should not be viewed as the primary purpose of the system. Its purpose is to reinforce standards, encourage responsibility and help prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Fairness, consistency and the right to appeal

The WFA understands that introducing fines also introduces an important responsibility: ensuring that decisions are handled fairly.

An individual who receives a formal fine notification should be provided with clear information explaining:

  • What the alleged breach or incident relates to.
  • The relevant section of the Official Fine List.
  • The reason for the proposed or confirmed action.
  • The amount of any fine, where applicable.
  • The deadline and instructions for responding.
  • How to submit an appeal if they disagree with the decision.

The Association recognises that mistakes can happen and that individuals should have an opportunity to explain their circumstances.

For this reason, an appeal procedure will form part of the wider disciplinary arrangements.

Appeals should be considered fairly and, where possible, by someone who was not responsible for making the original decision.

The WFA wants everyone to understand that receiving a notification does not mean an individual should be prevented from raising concerns or asking for a decision to be reviewed.

The objective is to maintain accountability while protecting the right of individuals to be heard.

The importance of the Code of Conduct

The Official Fine List works alongside the WFA’s wider Code of Conduct and Behaviour & Warnings documentation.

These documents serve different but connected purposes.

The Code of Conduct establishes the standards expected from individuals, while the Behaviour & Warnings procedures explain how concerns can be raised, recorded and addressed.

The Fine List provides a reference for potential financial penalties where an applicable breach has been established.

Together, these documents create a more structured approach to maintaining standards throughout the organisation.

The WFA encourages everyone to familiarise themselves with the relevant documentation rather than waiting until an incident occurs.

Understanding the expectations in advance can help prevent misunderstandings and unnecessary disciplinary matters.

Who does the Fine List apply to?

The WFA intends the standards outlined in its official documentation to support everyone involved in the organisation.

This includes players, team representatives, officials and individuals carrying out responsibilities on behalf of the league, where the relevant rules apply to them.

The Association believes that no individual should consider themselves exempt from reasonable organisational standards simply because of their position, experience or involvement.

Everyone representing the Winn Family T-20 League has a responsibility to maintain its reputation.

The same principles of respect, accountability and fairness should apply throughout the organisation.

Looking ahead to the 2026–27 season

The publication of the WFA Official Fine List is part of the Association’s continued development of its governance and administrative arrangements.

As the Winn Family T-20 League continues to grow, it is important that its policies and procedures develop alongside it.

The WFA is committed to establishing a professional structure that supports the league, protects participants and ensures that expectations are communicated clearly.

The 2026–27 season provides an opportunity to put these standards into practice and encourage a positive environment across all league activities.

The Association hopes that the introduction of the Fine List will reduce uncertainty, improve communication and help everyone understand their responsibilities.

Ultimately, the best outcome is not an increase in fines or disciplinary action. It is a season in which fewer incidents occur because everyone understands the standards and chooses to uphold them.

A message from the Winn Family Association

The publication of this document should be viewed as a positive development for the organisation.

The WFA is not introducing these arrangements to make participation more difficult or to discourage individuals from getting involved. It is introducing them to ensure that everyone can enjoy their involvement in an environment where respect, fairness and responsibility matter.

Every individual has a part to play in creating that environment.

Whether you are a player, official, representative or member of the wider organisation, your behaviour contributes to the standards and reputation of the Winn Family T-20 League.

The Association encourages everyone to read the new documentation carefully, understand the expectations and familiarise themselves with the procedures for warnings, fines and appeals.

The WFA Official Fine List 2026–27 is now published and forms part of the Association’s official documentation for the 2026–27 season.
