Family Guide

The Winn Family League is exactly that — a family league, founded by one family in 2024 and open to everyone. Children are welcome at every event, and Winnston Park has garden space for them to enjoy the day. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Children’s activities

Mini-cricket, games and activities run on Finals Day and Winter Cup days. Ask at the information point for the day’s timetable.

Family areas

A quieter part of the garden away from the boundary where children can play safely — and away from stray cricket balls.

Child tickets

League cricket and the Winter Cup are free. At the Evelyn Dance Show under-5s go free, teens (6–18) are £1 and adults £2.

Baby-changing

Baby-changing is in the ground-floor accessible toilet in the main house.

Toilets

Toilets are in the main house — a steward will point you to them.

Food

Child-friendly snacks and drinks at the pavilion; picnics are welcome.

Evelyn Dance Show

The league’s own dance show performs at the Winn Family Theatre on site — 60 minutes including a 15-minute interval, perfect for families.

Junior cricket

Want to play? The league runs teams for the whole family. Contact us to find out about joining.

WFA Academy

Members can follow Academy pathways — Player Development, Leadership, Officials and Welfare — with coached workshops (Batting, Bowling, Power Hitting, Spin Bowling, Cricket IQ, Umpiring, Welfare & Safeguarding and more), typically £30–£40 each, with QR check-in, badges and certificates. Complete beginners are welcome.

Safety

If a child is lost, tell a steward immediately — see our lost children procedure. The league’s Safeguarding Officer is Deborah Winn.

Top tips for families

  • Bring sunscreen, hats and plenty of water on warm days; layers, gloves and a flask in December.
  • Agree a meeting point with older children when you arrive — the information point by the gate works well.
  • Stay alert near the boundary: cricket balls can leave the playing area.
